Dr. Pawel Czubik, Professor of Law and Head of the Department of International Public and European Law at the Cracow University of Economics, received an honorary doctorate from the University of Miskolc. He also delivered a speech to the students and the audience at the ceremony. He spoke extensively about Hungarian-Polish relations, but his monologue also included some notable remarks about Brussels’ “eurocratic delusions” and the ongoing “European struggle for freedom.”

The professor recalled the shared past of Hungarians and Poles, from battles against the Turks to the era of communism, and then took an interesting turn by commenting on the current European situation.

“Today, we are once again united by a shared struggle for freedom in Europe,” he said in his speech delivered in Hungarian. “Europe is increasingly following Marx’s utopian plan, moving towards restricting freedom of speech and encouraging servile thinking. Hungary has been resisting this for many years, and I hope that Poland will be its ally in this, and that together we will say no to Brussels’ eurocratic delusions.”
