Endine föderaalpoliitik ja unionist Craig Thomson on pääsenud vanglast pärast seda, kui ta võttis valitsuselt pettuse teel 25 000 dollarit (16 428 $US) toetusi.
Häbistatud endine parlamendiliige tunnistas end süüdi kahes pettuse teel rahalise eelise ebaausas saamises ja mõisteti süüdi 18. märtsil.
Hr Thomson taotles ja sai 25 000 dollarit COVID-19 toetusraha kohvikule, mis kuulus tema naisele, kellest ta on nüüdseks lahutanud.
Kohtunik Daniel Covington käskis endisel tervishoiuteenuste liidu riiklikul sekretäril teha kogukonnas 14-kuuline intensiivne korrektsioon, mis lõpeb 17. mail 2025.
59-aastane peab teenima ka 250 tundi üldkasulikku tööd ja maksma 25,000 dollarit tagasi NSW-le.

Viktoriaanlik kohus mõistis ta hiljem varguses süüdi.
